What is powerchair football? – An overview of the sport, who plays and a discussion from one of our passionate patrons.
Basic powerchair control:
– forwards
– reverse
– spins/turning
(Theory & practical)
Recap the basic chair control skills and move towards the intermediate techniques.
intermediate technical skills:
– dribbling
– front bumper passing & shooting
– timing: front bumping a moving ball
Recap the intermediate techniques and progress to advanced technical work.
Advanced technical skills:
– Spin kicks: shooting, passing, timing and technique
– how to defend?
– chair positioning
Tactical Development:
– Formations/Positioning
– Set Pieces
– Discussion of the rules: 2 on 1 rule, 3 in a box, non contact.
Take the discussion into practice, try some set piece drills to develop match awarenesses.
(theory & practical)
Match Play:
– Students will challenge themselves taking on a match, using all the skills they have learnt over the last few weeks.
– Match play will be stop-start, so coaches can give advice.
Competition:
– Tournament: the students will be split into teams and compete against each other in a fun way to end an exciting new module.
