About GBG
Our
Mission &
Values
At Goals Beyond Grass, we believe confidence and community are built beyond the pitch. Our philosophy is simple: everyone, regardless of ability, deserves the opportunity to take part in social and physical activity and to feel that they truly belong.
Founded in 2016 by CEO Brian Dix, the charity grew from his success in Powerchair Football and a powerful realisation: there were still too many barriers preventing disabled people from accessing fun, inclusive sport. Brian saw the potential for Powerchair Football to be more than a game — it could be a vehicle for connection, confidence and community. By taking the sport out into local communities, he created spaces where everyone could feel included.
What began with Powerchair Football has since grown into much more. Today, Goals Beyond Grass delivers a wide and ever-expanding range of sports and activities, creating varied opportunities for people of all abilities to get involved, try something new and build lasting connections.
Now operating daily, the charity remains guided by the same clear purpose: creating more than just sport. We provide welcoming, inclusive environments where friendships are formed, wellbeing is strengthened and confidence grows.
Our work is driven by three core values:
Sport for All
No one is ever turned away. We are committed to making our activities accessible and open to everyone.
Social and Physical
We champion both movement and meaningful connection, bringing people together through shared experiences.
Community
We involve the whole community – disabled and able-bodied — because true inclusion happens when everyone takes part.
Through everything we do, we remain focused on breaking down barriers, building confidence and creating spaces where everyone belongs.
